Turn Instagram Reels into text you can search

To turn an Instagram Reel into text, share it to Drawer (or paste its link). Drawer writes out what is said in the Reel, keeps the caption, sorts it under a topic like Food or Travel, and lets you search it or ask questions about it later.

How it works

  1. In Instagram, tap the share arrow under the Reel and choose Drawer, or copy the link and paste it into Drawer.
  2. Drawer turns what is said into text and keeps the caption next to it.
  3. The Reel lands on your map under a topic, so the recipe, place or tip is there when you need it.

Why not just use Instagram's Saved folder?

Instagram's Saved folder keeps the video, not what was said in it. You can't search it for "that ramen place in Osaka" or "the 3-ingredient pasta". Drawer keeps the words, so a search or a question finds the Reel again.

What you can do with the text

Search every Reel you saved by any word said in it. Ask "which cafés did I save in Lisbon?" and get an answer that points back to the Reels. Group Reels into projects, like a trip or a renovation, and share a project with someone.

Questions

Does Drawer work with Instagram posts as well as Reels?

Yes. Share a post or a Reel; Drawer keeps the caption and any words spoken in a video.

Do I need to download the Reel?

No. You share the link and Drawer does the rest. You can add your own note to any save.
